ADDICTION CAN BE BEATEN- ?
Start your recovery journey with a call.
When drugs are used/abused over a period of time, the brain changes in response to prolonged exposure to those drugs. Cravings tend to get stronger and withdrawals tend to get worse. This physiological reality makes quitting very difficult for anyone. Thanks to modern drug and alcohol treatment, there is no reason to go through the recovery process alone. These programs provide people with the support that they need to rehabilitate and can be easily accessed with a call to a drug support hotline or a national drug rehab hotline such as Rama rehabilitation and de-addiction center.

Do I need a residential treatment?
Residential treatment is a good choice for those who have a moderate to severe addiction, and who have come to a point of admitting or accepting that they have a problem with drugs or alcohol that requires treatment. One of the hardest things is being able to determine if your addiction is severe enough to require residential treatment. That is a difficult determination that requires a level of objectivity that might be hard to tap into when you are actively dealing with addiction. Even people who have hit what others would call ”Rock bottom” can talk themselves out of treatment and convince themselves their problem is not that bad.
The diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders (DSM) has outlined eleven criteria that can help you identify the severity of your addiction. The more of these criteria that apply to you, the more severe the addiction:
- You feel a lack of control
- You desire to quit using but are unable to
- You spend a lot of time trying to get the substance of your addiction.
- You crave the addictive substance
- You have diminished your level of responsibility at work, school, home
- You are experiencing problems with your personal relationships
- You have a loss of interest in social and recreational activity
- You continue to use even when dangerous
- Your use has led to worsening physical, emotional or lifestyle situations.
- You have developed a tolerance that requires more substance to achieve the desired effect.
- You feel physical or psychological withdrawal symptoms if you attempt to quit using.
If you have answered yes to even one of these criteria, please call our trained staff to discuss your situation. If you are thinking about whether or not you need help getting clean and sober, then you probably do. Residential treatment may be your best option. Our trained counselors can help you decide if this is the best path for you.
Why will residential treatment help me?
Since detoxification does not address the psychological, social and behavioral problems associated with addiction, residential treatment is often necessary to help clients make important and lasting behavioral changes that lead to successful recovery.
Addiction treatment is about more than just ridding your body of its dependence on the drugs. Addiction essential rewires the brain in three different ways. First, addiction causes your brain to crave drugs or alcohol. Second, it hijacks the brain’s normal ability to control whether or not you use drugs or alcohol despite the consequences they cause in your life and in your body.
The detox process only addresses removing all traces of drugs or alcohol from your body. After the detox process is complete, treatment is necessary to rewire the brain to no longer crave drugs or alcohol. Residential treatment can provide a higher level of daily support than you get at home. This can be particularly useful if you think that you might be at risk of harming yourself.
